DomainKeys Identified Mail
Find out more about DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) and in what ways this feature may help your business.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a validation system used to check that an email has been sent by an authenticated person or mail server. A digital signature is attached to the header of the email message using a private encryption key. When the email is received, a public key that’s available in the global DNS database is used to validate who exactly sent it and if its content has been altered in some way. The chief task of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to impede the widely spread scam and spam emails, as it makes it impossible to fake an email address. If an email is sent from an email address claiming to belong to your bank or financial institution, for example, but the signature doesn’t match, you will either not receive the email at all, or you’ll receive it with a warning note that most likely it is not a legitimate one. It depends on mail service providers what exactly will happen with an email that fails the signature examination. DKIM will also give you an additional layer of protection when you communicate with your business partners, for instance, since they can see for themselves that all the e-mails that you send are genuine and haven’t been tampered with on their way.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The DomainKeys Identified Mail protection service comes by default with any domain that is registered through a
semi-dedicated server account with us. The domain should also use our name servers, so that its DNS resource records are managed by our system. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT record to be created, which is actually the public key that verifies if a given email message is authentic or not. This record is created the moment a new domain name is added to a semi-dedicated hosting account via the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is generated on our mail servers. If you use our email and web hosting services, your messages will always reach their target viewers and you will not need to worry about unauthorized people using your email addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something quite important in case you use email messages to reach your business allies.
